GOVERNMENT is working on an economic empowerment masterplan targeting youths countrywide 10 provinces to ease unemployment, a senior official has said.

Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports, Arts and Recreation Cde Yeukai Simbanegavi said the new dispensation’s vision champions youth empowerment so that they can realise their full potential as key players in unlocking value to the economy.

In this vein, she said the ministry has lined up a number of projects targeting youths.

“The ministry is actually establishing some incubation hubs in all the country’s 10 provinces.

“The incubation hubs equip the youth with life-changing skills. Youths from all the provinces despite one’s qualification are welcome to enrol at incubation hubs.

“Some Universities such as Midlands State University are partnering with the ministry to ensure their students acquire the necessary life skills required and move in line with global trends. Negotiations with other universities are currently underway,” she said.

She added that the incubation hubs include Kaguvi dairy, cosmetology in Bulawayo, motor mechanics in Zvishavane, clothing and textiles in Mutare, cattle and goat breeding in Matabeleland, vegetable and fruit production in Mutoko among others.
