CLOTHING retailer Edgars Stores has launched a new product – the Edgars Hospital Cash Plan – in partnership with Eagle Insurance. The Hospital Cash Plan is part of a wide range of value added benefits that Edgars introduced when it relaunched the Edgars Club in April this year and is a loyalty programme intended for all account holders at the store.

Edgars marketing executive Rumbidzai Dzimba said the plan was a cover which affords the insured or any of their dependants a cash payout in the event that they are hospitalised.

“In our quest to cover all our clients effectively, we have made this product as simple as possible with exciting opportunities for Edgars customers to enjoy services that add value to joining the Edgars Club,’’ she said.

“It is important to note that this is not a medical aid product but a plan which pays out cash should you be hospitalised for more than 48 hours. How you use the money therefore remains entirely up to you.”

The hospital plan pays out a maximum payout of $3 000 per claim and $6 000 per year with adults getting $100 and $50 for children for each day that you are hospitalised for more than 48 hours. If one should be hospitalised for seven days or more it provides an Edgars account debt relief or credit of $200 to the main account holder.

To counter problems that often arise after the account holder dies, the plan provides 100 percent debt relief of the whole amount outstanding if the principal account holder passes on.

There is a three-month waiting period for illness, but cover due to an accident is immediate and hospitalisation is for any disease with no medicals required prior to joining.

“All Edgars Club members will enjoy tremendous benefits should they be hospitalised whilst their membership is current,” she said

“The Edgars Club now offers more and more benefits to its members and we continue to listen to our customers and tailor-make products and programmes that give real value at affordable prices.”
