YOUNG Highlanders forward Prince Dube and seasoned left-back Bruce Kangwa are set to go for trials at unnamed clubs in the Netherlands and Cyprus respectively.

Kangwa, the Castle Lager Premiership’s leading goal scorer, is also on the radar of Young Africans of Tanzania, but sources said the talented wingback prefers a move to Europe.

“Bruce has courted interest in Cyprus, as I am told the guys there want a left-footed player that can switch from defence to attack and Bruce fits the bill perfectly,” said the source.

Kangwa expressed ignorance about the pending trials, but indicated that he would prioritise it should it materialise.

“Obviously Europe will be more appealing than Tanzania; it’s everyone’s dream to play in Europe,” said Kangwa, whose contract with Highlanders expires at the end of this season.

Head coach Erol Akbay is believed to be behind Dube’s trials in the Netherlands.

Dube cemented his place in Highlanders’ starting line-up in his debut season this year and should he make the grade, he would become only the second Zimbabwean player to play in the Eredivisie after another former Highlanders junior Marvelous Nakamba.

It is believed a team from Poland has also expressed interest in the young forward.

“It’s something that we are working on and he is likely to attend trials with a Netherlands side which we can’t name now,” said Akbay.

Highlanders chief executive officer Ndumiso Gumede also confirmed that there had been overtures for the striker from the Netherlands.
