The Democratic Republic of Congo will put former M23 rebels and their collaborators under close supervision to guarantee security in the eastern province of North Kivu, the provincial governor said in a statement yesterday.
“Since they are Congolese, we shall welcome them back to their homes. But we shall have to monitor them for between three to six months,” Julien Paluku said, noting that each Friday, the ex-M23 fighters will have to report at the local administration offices to confirm their presence and what they were doing.

Paluku said the ex-M23 collaborators were well-known.
“We saw them when the rebel group took over Goma town on November 20, 2012, and when we chased away M23 from Goma, they also fled. Now they are in the process of coming back, one by one, but others are still in Uganda,” he said. — Xinhua-Press TV.
