A GROUP of former Dynamos players scattered across the globe have begun taking small steps towards their grand vision of equipping the club’s juniors by donating three sets of kits. The kits and 20 soccer balls were handed over to the Dynamos board led by acting chairman Freddy Mukwesha and Chris Kasiyazi during a brief function on Thursday afternoon.

Former Dynamos striker and assistant coach Simon Chuma represented his colleagues, who make up Dynamos Old Boys Association, which has Memory Mucherahowa as its leader.

DOBA was formed in July last and its grand project is to breathe life into the club’s junior structures and turn them into a productive nursery that will roll out quality Glamour Boys.

“We came through the Dynamos juniors and as DOBA we put our heads together and decided to promote the clubs’ juniors.
“So, we have given the club three sets of kits and soccer balls to be used specifically for the junior teams and we will continue sourcing for more equipment,” said Chuma.

Secretary to the Dynamos board, Kasiyazi, said they were grateful for the donation from their former players who have decided to help the club in reviving the junior structures.

“We received a donation from DOBA for the juniors.
“It’s an excellent gesture because for a long time Dynamos’ junior policy had not been very vibrant.

“Now, with this support, we hope to have a better junior policy and some of these players will eventually make it into the senior team.
“We want to nurture youngsters and develop them within the culture of the club. It will be cost effective than going to the market to buy new players all the time,” said Kasiyazi.

Kasiyazi said some Dynamos junior products could be loaned to other teams in the Premiership or Division One sides since the club will not be able to accommodate all of them.

DOBA have appointed Enock Jokomo as their liaison and says part of the donated kits were brought to Zimbabwe by former DeMbare midfielder Hope Chihota during his visit last month.
