Kwekwe-based DJ Steven Sanders (pictured below) more popularly known on the decks as DJ Stavo has dropped his much anticipated single titled “Ingoma” featuring one of South Africa’s top artistes Mnqobi Mdabe aka Shota.
“Ingoma” is another bouncy track by Kwekwe Hustle record label lead artiste DJ Stavo, who was recently on tour of the United Kingdom where he performed a series of shows. I am very excited that I have dropped my latest track called ‘Ingoma’ featuring one of South Africa’s top artistes ‘Shota’, who is currently flying high with his hit song ‘Ben 10’ and has in the past released hit tracks like ‘Abantu Bami’ and ‘Seng’Khathele’ and others,” he said.

“The track has already taken off well within 24 hours on its release and I am sure it will make a very clear statement to Africa and the world that Zimbabwe has something to offer on the house, dance scene. It is important for Zimbabweans to rally behind this track and make real noise of our own product featuring a top international artiste.

“We will be dropping a video for the song before the end of the year and hopefully we could make it the official song for December. It was a very good experience working with Shota on this track and we both went into the studio to work on a hit and I am certain we just did that,” DJ Stavo said.

DJ Stavo has worked with ExQ, MacD, Cindy and Roki, to name just a few in his various songs that have endeared him to music fans not only in Zimbabwe but regionally. His self-titled album carries tracks such as “Take Me There”, “I’m Not a Fool” and “Sweet Love”.

However, it was the video of “Mnandi”, featuring multi-award-winning South African kwaito star Mandoza that made DJ Stavo an even bigger success story.

The video was an instant hit on YouTube and popular satellite music station Channel O, where it was up for nomination due to its popularity.

“I did not even think that I would end up doing music one day,” DJ Stavo, once said having been a footballer for Chrome Stars and Midlands Cables in the late 1990s. I used to watch Mandoza’s ‘Nkalakatha’ on TV and played it as one of my favourite club songs, but now we are working together. Psyfo, Cndo, DJ Cleo and DJ Bobo are among many house and kwaito artistes that I have hosted here and exchanged notes with.”

DJ Stavo is one of a few cross-over artistes, able to work with artistes from any genre and to play for any type of audience. He has also worked with South African artiste “Lolo the First Lady of Soul Candi” as well as DJ Fresh, Masingita, DJ Kentphonik. His Kwekwe Hustler brand boasts a record label and fashion line, which Stavo himself says is for the people of Kwekwe.
