DYNAMOS’ revival will be put under the test again today when they face newboys Chegutu Pirates in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Baobab.

The Harare giants have traditionally struggled against the Premiership minnows.

Last Sunday they fluffed several chances before scrapping a 1-0 win over TelOne at Rufaro.

Dynamos need another set of maximum points to keep track of the leading pack in a Premiership race that is promising to be riveting with very little separating the teams in the league in terms of their log standings.

Victory today will also help ease pressure on Dynamos coach Genesis Mangombe.

With two wins from seven starts, Dynamos are not out of the woods yet.

Mangombe revealed ahead of their trip to Baobab that he would want his team to improve in front of goal after the giants managed only five goals in seven starts.

The ex-Yadah Stars coach has so far struggled to find his best XI and has been rotating his forwards.

Mangombe has had to give opportunities to strikers like Alexander Matinyenya, Ghanaian Emmanuel Paga, Elton Chikona, Eli Ilunga, and Namibian Sadney Uri-Khob alternately.

But they have only five goals to show in 630 minutes of football with defender Kelvin Moyo among the scorers.

Only newboys Chegutu Pirates, with three goals after seven rounds of play, have fared worse.

Mangombe’s job has been on the line in recent weeks.

But Paga provided a ray of hope for both the coach and the team when he scored his second goal of the season in the win over TelOne.

“That is what we expect because we have got an arsenal outside and we expect everyone, all the strikers, you need to work for yourself so that you can command the first team jersey.

“From the start of the season, we have been rotating the attackers because there is no consistency in scoring. So, maybe, one who will score consistently will be on the starting team.

“Paga at least is challenging us and is trying to be perfect in front of goal. Maybe we will also think about playing him first,” said Mangombe.

The DeMbare coach believes his midfielders should also weigh in with goals and will be expecting much from the likes of Donald Mudadi, Emmanuel Ziocha, and Issa Sadiki.
