DYNAMOS chairman Kenny Mubaiwa says the Glamour Boys are disappointed they will not be part of the Chibuku Super Cup quarter-final draw to be conducted in Harare this afternoon.
The Harare giants are the most notable omission in the last eight after crashing out 1-0 to Black Rhinos in the first round last month.
Highlanders, CAPS United, FC Platinum, Harare City, Triangle, How Mine, Chiredzi and Rhinos pulled through and will be involved in the draw for the quarter-finals today.

The matches will be played over the weekend at venues to be revealed at the draw.
Mubaiwa said they have learnt their lesson from the exit which was preceded by an industrial action by their players over unpaid bonuses the week before.

“It’s painful not to be part of the draw. We are a big team and we aim to take all the trophies on offer. What it means now is we have lost an opportunity to win another silverware.

“Our elimination from the Chibuku Super Cup was not because we were not good enough to progress from the first round. It only happened that we had our in-house problems at the time and we got punished.

“However, we should not keep mourning over that. I believe we learnt our lessons from that experience and hopefully in future we will not have things like that happening.

“Look at how we played against Highlanders at the weekend, we showed our true class.
“It’s sad we won’t be involved in matches this weekend. We wanted to continue with our momentum at this crucial stage of the league competition, especially after this morale-boosting win over Highlanders,” said Mubaiwa.

Dynamos are coming from a success story over bitter rivals Highlanders in the inaugural TM Pick n Pay Challenge Cup where they thumped the Bulawayo giants 4-1 and pocketed US$60 000.

The prize money was a huge relief for DeMbare who have been facing financial problems. Mubaiwa revealed they will sit down with the players and the technical team today to determine how they are going to share the prize money.

“We deliberately avoided discussing about the money issues before the game because that would have caused an unnecessary distraction.
“We were focusing on winning the game and now that we have the prize in the bag we have to sit down and discuss how we are going to share it. I am sure this won’t be a big problem,” said Mubaiwa.

DeMbare will resume their league campaign next week when they travel to FC Platinum.
The Harare giants are sitting at the top of the table, three points clear of second-placed Highlanders with eight games remaining.

Besides, Norman Mapeza’s FC Platinum, they have played most of the big teams and still have dates with Shabanie Mine, Buffaloes, Chapungu, Harare City, Bantu Rovers, ZPC Kariba and How Mine.

“I believe we now have a tricky road to the finishing line because we play most of the so-called small teams in our remaining games,” said Mubaiwa.
“These are the same teams that have given us problems in the past so we would need to keep on our toes.

“It’s not safe to lead by three points with as much as eight games to play. Of course, our players need motivation but we cannot promise these guys heaven on earth since we all know where we are coming from.

“But we will definitely try our best to spice up things along the way.
“This season our wish is to win the title for ourselves without having to depend on calculators or to worry how other teams are playing. I believe our next match to FC Platinum is crucial because they appear to be in fine form.

“But over the years we have virtually won the title at FC Platinum. Hopefully history will repeat itself.”
