ZIMBABWE’S top golfer Brendon de Jonge was tied 35th after the second round of the CIMB Clasic, in Malaysia yesterday. The tournament is being held at the Kuala Lumpur Golf Club in Malaysia.

The CIMB Classic has a prize fund of $7 million and the winner pockets US$1, 260 million.

De Jonge is part of the strong field of 77 players who are gunning for the winners’ cheque. The Zimbabwean shot rounds of 72 and 73.

De Jonge came close to winning his first PGA Tour title last week only to miss it via the playoffs.

In the Sunshine Tour’s Vodacom Origins of Golf Finals, the country’s only representative Mark Williams was right in the chase after yesterday’s round. The Bulawayo-born Williams was sitting on eight-under-par after the two rounds and in 10th place. Williams had an impressive 65 yesterday that brought him back into the game.
