ZIMBABWE’S Sean Crocker reached the semi-finals in his first attempt at the US Amateur Championship where he played Bryson DeChambeau at Olympia Fields in the United States on Saturday.

DeChambeau went on to win the event by defeating Virginia Tech’s Derek Bard in Sunday’s final.

Crocker, the USC men’s golf star, impressed many before his U.S. Amateur Championship run came to an end in a duel against the eventual wiinner.

Crocker suffered a four-and-three loss to DeChambeau, who made history by becoming the fifth golfer to ever win the collegiate title and U.S. Amateur trophy in the same year.

Meanwhile Mark Williams and Greg Bentley managed to make the cut at the Vodacom Origins of Golf at San Leemer Country Club at the weekend.

The Zimbabwean pocketed R8 732.
