When you choose to wear clothes make sure they leave a lasting impression whether it is designer wear or not. A lot of people try to imitate what they see on television but the problem is how to pull it through. When it comes to style and class, celebrities come to mind right away. Their looks and fashion can suit several occasions.Whether you wish to do a make-over, change your lifestyle, or dress up for a costume, imitating a celebrity is a great option that can be achieved by several means.

Is it ok to dress like a celebrity?

How can any man pull a celebrity style look?

How can you dress to kill like Daniel Craig or dress to impress like Idris Elba?

For ladies it is very simple because most designs and garments suit them perfectly, but this week focus is on men as they have been trying to look best at all the shows I have attended.

It is a struggle.

You probably have watched a movie, been impressed with the style of the leading man, and thought to yourself: I can dress like Will Smith or I can wear that suit like Bradley Cooper.

With all that in mind, we track down on some stylist, designers, moguls or models to see how best they describe it.

Many shops and boutiques together with designers are trying to dress celebrities to match their standards, but it takes a fashion advisor to explain and match the desired look.

This week, I had a chat with businessman and fashion advisor Benny Chembe who owns The Celebrity a male store with branches at Joina City and Kopje Plaza (NetOne) buildings.

The Celebrity offers tuxedos, blazers, pocket squares, cufflinks, tailor-made and designer wear suits from Armani, Ermenegildo Zegna, William Westmancott, Zoot and Alexander Amosu Vanquish among other reputable names.

And trying to check on the labels, it truly resembles the name as most designer suits have been adorned by famous stars like Daniel Craig in James Bond.

Chembe, who said he has worked with diplomats, socialites and celebrities among others, said his idea was to give clients their dream when it comes to dressing.

“I named my shops ‘The Celebrity’ because the idea is for clothes that make you who you want to be. With the influx of designs and how men are embracing fashion, most of my designs are from Turkey, Italy, Thailand and Hong Kong among others. The celebrity look should be affordable but at the same time maintain the classy element you want. These days it is all about the colourful blazers and lapel pins which are now men’s best friend accessories. In fact I can say that it is about how to pull the celebrity look from league of extraordinary gentlemen to the bossy,” he said.

Chembe said celebrities create style standards daily.

“Be bold with simple outfits and accessories remember celebrities create style standards daily.

When it comes to the everyday glimpses of them on TV or Instagram, celebrities have a way of making even the most basic outfits stand out,” he said.

However, fame does not guarantee celebrities or wannabe celebrities a ticket on the best-dressed lists, although it might guarantee that they’ll get noticed wherever they go.

So if you want to attract some attention make sure you follow the part of dressing like a celebrity.

To the ladies, whether you are a die-hard stiletto lover or prefer easy ballet flats, you still want your shoes to look good.

There’s plenty of advice about how to find the most flattering pairs like leg-lengthening nude pumps and black cap-toes — the latter was decreed by Coco Chanel to make a foot appear daintier, but what about a primer on the styles to avoid wearing?

Here is quick guide courtesy of Glamour Fashion: 1. Strap position: Similar to a waist belt, you want the straps of a shoe to highlight the thinnest part of your feet it’s why the ankle-strap remains a forever favorite and so gosh-darn sexy.

For a tie or lace that goes across the foot, look for one that’s toward the toes or the ankle, not smack in the middle.

2. Boot heights: The leg-lengthening power of shoes goes beyond the nude heel. Tall boots can flatter your stems too, but pay attention to where they cut. Right under the knee or above is best — avoid any styles that hit directly at the kneecap.

3. Flatforms: Even though the chunky look is frequently spotted in street style shots, it’s not the most elegant choice. If you’re drawn to a shoe that’s more horizontal than vertical, play with low vamps that show off some toe cleavage.

4. Incorrect sizes: It should be obvious, but there’s no predicting what a style lover will do in the name of fashion. If a shoe is too big or small, don’t try to force it. The effect of pinched skin or a gaping heel isn’t worth it, no matter how gorgeous the shoe itself is.

5. Out-of-season toes: Fashion cycles through pointed, round, and square toes, and wearing an out-of-favour shape can instantly make an outfit feel off (invest in almond shapes, a classic that’s always flattering). Pay attention to the condition of your heels too, since pointy single-sole pumps can start to turn up after lots of wear.
