CAPS UNITED coach Lloyd Chitembwe believes the vision the administrators have will help him transform one of the country’s biggest clubs into the kind of force their reputation deserves. Chitembwe, who bounced back as the Green Machine head coach a fortnight ago, will have his first game against Buffaloes at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.

He is looking beyond the game against Buffaloes and hopes his contribution will make an impact at the end of the season. Speaking during his team’s training session yesterday, the former Warriors hard man said he has come to bring back good memories to the CAPS United faithful. “I think we have a good side which only needs to have a few touch ups the side is not very bad and the players know the basics of the game.

“It is good to be back at CAPS United and it is always a pleasure to be here. I saw the vision the directors have for my former side and that drove me to return. “I also wanted to be part of this history making club which I believe can have those glory days again’’. Chitembwe believes it may be difficult for a top four finish but wants a strong end to the season.

“Our aim is to finish the season on a high note by transforming this side. The team looks good and the players are putting a lot of effort,” said Chitembwe. The experienced coach who was on the side-lines since last August after parting ways with Northern Region Division One side Starbill will return to a team who are finding it hard for results to come by.

Makepekepe lost their last match 2-1 to Chapungu at Ascot with the defeat following draws against lowly sides Dongo Sawmill 0-0 and Tsholotsho 1-1. Saul Chaminuka’s Buffaloes will arrive in the capital with their confidence boosted by their 2-0 triumph over Flame Lilly at Sakubva. Buffaloes are unpredictable and they showed character when holding Harare City 1-1 at Rufaro.

But the spotlight will no doubt fall on Chitembwe as he returns to the CAPS United technical bench and show that despite a lengthy absence from the Premiership, he has not lost his touch. A win over Buffaloes could be just the kind of welcome that Chitembwe would want as it will also deflect the pressure that has been hovering the CAPS United camp following their winless streak.
