Payments technology company, Zimswitch chief executive Zabron Chilakalaka has been instrumental in recalibrating Zimswitch’s 30-year journey from just being a collaborative platform for sharing infrastructure to a business playing a leading role in digitising payments in Zimbabwe, connecting all financial institutions, deposit taking microfinance institutions and mobile money operators in the country.

He is a seasoned business executive with practical experience in strategic management, business process and performance improvement. 

Chilakalaka has proven expertise in business planning, organising, leadership and performance management. He has vast experience in managing stakeholder relationships (internal and external) at all levels and in business turnaround strategy implementation.

Zabron started off his career as an enumerator with the Zimbabwe Statistical Agency, a job that carved his attention to detail skills which he was to later apply as an audit assistant with KPMG Chartered Accountants (Zimbabwe) and in his subsequent managerial roles within Zimswitch. 

He assumed his role as deputy general manager on January 1, 2017 having previously served initially as financial accountant and then head of finance and administration for Zimswitch. He now heads Zimswitch.
