Love and unity are key drivers of community and national development, Chief Svosve Nyahuye of Wedza District has said.

Speaking at the handover ceremony of an ambulance to Wedza North District by businessman Mr Tinodaishe Machakaire – the owner of TINMAC Motors – at Goto Shopping Centre, Chief Svosve also took the opportunity to urge people to shun violence and intimidation, especially as the country heads towards harmonised elections.

“What TINMAC has done today is commendable. I have been in this area for ages and I have never seen a young man donating an ambulance to the community; this can only be done by someone who has people at heart, someone who unites the people and someone who wants to see the community develop,” said Chief Svosve.

“I am really touched. Let me urge everyone here to take a leaf from this young man. Let us love one another if we want this community to develop. Let me use this platform to say to all of you, please shun and condemn any form of violence and intimidation, especially as we head for our elections,” he said.

He also added that the ambulance will significantly help the community, which formerly had one ambulance.

“We had only one ambulance in this district; when it breaks down, some people would use their vehicles to carry patients to hospitals, some would walk long distances and others died before reaching a health institution, but it’s a thing of the past now,” he said.

Minister of State for Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs Cde David Musabayana also applauded the donation, saying it will go a long way in guaranteeing an efficient health delivery system in Wedza.

“Let me commend what our young man here has done to the community. Giving back to the community enhances community development,” he said.

Min Musabayana urged the community to remain united and peaceful ahead of the forthcoming polls expected in July.

In his remarks, Mr Machakaire commended the new political administration for opening avenues where private organisations can compliment Government efforts to improve people’s livelihoods.
