CHICKEN Inn winger Michael Charamba has dedicated his goal against GreenFuel in a Castle Lager Premiership football match at the weekend to his twin boys who celebrated their birthday on Saturday.

He scored a thunderbolt in the top right corner to secure a 2-0 win for the Gamecocks. It was his second goal of the season after opening his account against FC Platinum.

Coincidentally Charamba also celebrated his 28th birthday on Sunday.

Charamba believes family has been important in his football career.

He said Chicken Inn is now also family as they accommodated him after a career-threatening injury kept him out of action for two  years.

He returned last season and managed to put in top performances that earned him one of the 11 finalists’ spots for the Soccer Star of the Year award.

“The goal was a present for the boys and a win for the team. I would have loved to score one for each one of them, but I thank God for the grace to score one. God is the provider and I am grateful for that.

“I am looking forward to registering double figures in both goals and assists. The whole idea is to help the team win a trophy.”

The Gamecocks have had a decent start this season so far scrapping nine points in the opening six matches. They have won two, drawn thrice, and lost once.

Charamba said despite endless efforts by local clubs to lure him away from the Bulawayo-based club, he felt indebted to Chicken Inn due to his strong relationship with the club.

”It’s good to be at a club that has been there for you in difficult times and as a player you need continuity.

“The relationship with coach (Joey) Antipas is good, he is like a father to me, and he is someone who challenges me to work hard and always improve,” he said.
