HARARE giants CAPS United and newboys Herentals have been summoned to appear before the Premier Soccer League Disciplinary Committee on October 2 for their involvement in causing a late kick-off to their match on August 18 at Rufaro.

According to the Match Commissioner’s report, it appears CAPS United could walk out free, with Herentals likely to be fined for their action.

The Match Commissioner, in his report, alleged that Herentals deliberately caused the delay as their overzealous security personnel refused the CAPS United team bus entry into the stadium.

“I arrived at the main gate at 13:35 pm and noticed away team coach’s car parked in front of the main gate on the right of his car there was the home team bus dropping players entering the stadium walking.

“By 13:45 I was with referee in the changing room ready to inspect players, I was told by the referees that the home team was available ready for inspection but the away team’s bus was having problems to enter the stadium. “I tried to assist the away team players to enter the stadium and we were told at the main gate by the home team’s official, who introduced to us a chief security officer, that we will not allow CAPS United team bus to enter into the stadium and the players should be dropped outside and walk into the stadium leaving the bus outside,” he wrote. Herentals are likely to be charged for contravening order 31 of the PSL Rules and Regulations which stipulates that:

“It is an Act of Misconduct on the part of the Club where its players, officials, servants or duly authorised (expressed or implied) representatives or supporters directly or indirectly interrupt, obstruct or disturb the normal proceedings of a game before during or after the match.”

Both Herentals and CAPS United have been notified of the summons.

“You are therefore required to appear before the Disciplinary Committee at the offices of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, 36 Midlothian Avenue, Eastlea, Harare on October 2 at 17:30 hrs.,” read part of the summon sent to CAPS United.

CAPS United have confirmed the development through a post on their official website. “As such, we will appear before the Disciplinary Committee on October 2 2018,” they stated. Herentals are not new to off the pitch controversy as last year when they were campaigning in the Northern Region they had several of their games ending up being marred by violence.
