THIEVES broke into premises of a Bulawayo company and stole US$11 542, R30 120 and $481 stashed in one of the offices along Wakefield Road in the Belmont industrial area.

The thieves reportedly cut the galvanised roofing sheets before entering the office through the ceiling. They ransacked the office and stole the cash.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said investigations were in progress on the theft that occurred between Friday and Sunday.

Anyone with information should contact any nearest police station.

Last month, thieves raided a company in Bulawayo and stole US$12 000 from an unlocked safe while in Shamva another gang stole US$30 000, R6 500 and $19 000 from a shop after blasting two safes.

Nothing has yet been recovered.

The theft in central Bulawayo took place when the thieves broke into an office while on that same day, at around 2am, other thieves broke into the Shamva shop.

Police have been appealing for information which might lead to the arrest of the thieves and anyone who can help should contact any nearest police station.

Police continually warn people to bank their money rather than keep large sums lying around.
