The June 10 by-elections are around the corner and it is up to the electorate to decide who to vote for.

In those by-elections, Zanu-PF will be competing with many opposition parties which include Transform Zimbabwe, National Constitutional Assembly (NCA), Freedom Party, Mavambo/Kusile/Dawn (MKD) and a number of independent candidates.

Parliamentary by-elections are often called the “grave of the opposition parties” mainly because the ruling party has more advantages over its rivals.

Most opposition parties usually urge voters to make a judgment against the ruling party on elections; however, the opposition parties will then face their own judgment and lose the polls.

It is pathetic that opposition parties are no longer popular in Zimbabwe, as this was observed by the recent Afrobarometer report.

ZANU-PF is a disciplined political party, unlike opposition parties which are known for violence and rowdiness.

This is witnessed by a number of members who have deserted MDC-T to join the revolutionary party. It is heartening to note that former MDC-T national secretary for local government Ms Thokozani Bote and Nyanga Rural District Council ward 26 councillor Ms Viola Tongoona and many other former MDC-T senior officials in Manicaland managed to read between the lines and made their great escape into the safety and security of Zanu-PF.

If the revolutionary party was not loyal, we could have seen those defecting from MDC-T joining other opposition parties like MKD, NCA or Transform Zimbabwe.

The public has no confidence in the patriotism of these opposition parties.

Most people have questions in their minds on whether these opposition parties have the capability to run Government and if they can really be entrusted with state affairs?

This is because most of them are projects of Western nations seeking to advance the regime change agenda in Zimbabwe.

During the inclusive Government, MDC-T was given the chance to formulate alternative or new policies that would assist in nation building and economic development. Nothing came from them.

The opposition party was busy enjoying the trappings of being in Government and forgot about the populace.

During that period, opposition party officials who were assigned to achieve set goals derailed Government efforts by abusing state funds.

In general, opposition parties will never produce better economic policies than those of the revolutionary party as proven by their unintelligible manifestos during elections.

It is imperative to note that the ruling party has the electorate at heart hence, voters naturally rally behind ZANU-PF. It is true that ZANU-PF is always the people’s choice since it was founded in 1963. Most opposition parties which were formed later proved to be fly-by night institutions which have nothing to offer hence voting for them is a waste of time.

In addition, most candidates from opposition are inexperienced and scandal-prone, much to the dismay of the electorate.

Accordingly, why should the electorate vote for parties that are already dead? ZANU PF is a party with a reputable history and Zimbabwe owes its independence to the sacrifices of men and women who wanted nothing but the total emancipation of all Zimbabweans.

There is prevailing peace and tranquillity in the nation because of the revolutionary party.

In addition, the revolutionary party’s plans to bring about economic emancipation has the full support of most ordinary Zimbabweans who are labouring under the harsh and illegal sanctions imposed on the country by the West.

Most opposition parties were formed by power hungry individuals and their appetite for power has always been manifested through power struggles.

This has led to many splits occurring in opposition parties. ZANU-PF has remained united.

Though power hungry people like Simba Makoni and Dumiso Dabengwa left the ruling party and formed their own parties, in the June 10 elections, the electorate should make sure that these opposition parties are buried once and for all.
