THE prospect of Zimbabwean cricketers Ryan Burl and Sikandar Raza coming against each other at the ongoing Everest Premier League was dashed this morning after the match between Kathmandu Kings XI and Biratnagar Warriors was cancelled because of a wet outfield.

The Zimbabwean duo were among the top individual performers in the first round of the matches at the weekend in Nepal’s franchise T20 cricket tournament.

They finished with the most individual runs, with Burl topping the charts after he struck an unbeaten 73 runs from 34 deliveries in Kathmandu Kings XI’s seven-wicket win over Lalitpur Patriots.

The 27-year-old also recorded decent bowling figures of 2-20 and was hoping for more positive performances.

Raza, on the other hand, was keen to rise from the opening match setback. His 47-ball 67, comprising two fours and seven sixes, guided the Warriors to a respectable score but his side still slipped to a two-wicket defeat to Chitwan Tigers.

The Zimbabweans were set to face off in foreign land for the first time this morning. However, the match was called off without a ball bowled at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.

Burls’ Kathmandu Kings XI still top the tables with three points while Warriors are second from the bottom of the six-team table.
