The Bulldogs had recovered from injuries that had affected their performances of late and were at full strength for this showdown.

Dragons were also strengthened with the likes of Thabani Mujeni and Brendon Boshi returning from the Under-18 Craven Week in South Africa.
“We talked to our forwards and said we have to go head to head with the guys, pound for pound, because that’s where St Georges’ strength was,” said Churchill head coach, Geoff Madhake.

“They have some really huge forwards and we had to match up with them in the scrums and rucks as well as the line outs.”
By the half St Georges were already staggering closer to their fate as the Bulldogs were leading 19-10.

“It was not an easy game and both teams played very god rugby. St Georges put up a fight but our boys played some tremendous rugby and they were fast,” said Madhake.
“The Saints’ backline couldn’t defend us and I think that’s where the difference was but our boys were a little bit faster and took advantage because Saints could not get across fast enough.

“That was the key thing and they were not expecting that kind of speed.”
A change in the schools calendar means that schools will close on Friday and it is unlikely that the in-form Bulldogs are unlikely to face arch-rivals Prince Edward this week.
