TOP Zimbabwean golfer Brendon de Jonge was happy with the six-under-par 64 second round finish at the McGladrey Classic as he was tied fourth going into yesterday’s final round.
The event had a US$5,6 million purse and would mark de Jonge’s first top 10 finish of the season. After the impressive round the Zimbabwean said he was happy as he rarely practice at home.

“I enjoy playing you know, I do very little practice or playing when I’m home, so it all happens when I’m on the road.
“I,d like to figure it’s probably the right thing to do. My body is telling me to slow down a little bit,” said de Jonge.

The USPGA 2014-15 season began some three weeks ago and de Jonge has not missed a cut. In the first tournament — Frys.com Open — he finished tied 31 and was on 42nd place in the Shiners Hospitals for Children Open last week.

The 2012 Zimbabwe Sportsman of the Year is having a promising season with his outings at the big stage.
Meanwhile, local professional golfers will return to the course for the Harare Open set for November 6 and 7 at Chapman.

The Harare Open is a follow-up to the Zimbabwe Open and runs under the Zambezi Tour and it usually draws several professionals.
The professionals had the Hwange Open as their last event some few weeks ago and will now take part in another event which is likely to draw a big field.

The Zambezi Tour have confirmed the dates for the tournament which also counts on the order of merit currently led by Tongo Charamba.
In the local circuit, the amateurs have still a long way before the season ends as they still have six more tournaments to take part in.
