Organisers for the Purple Festival, which is being hosted by local pharmacy Booties, have said preparations are at an advanced stage, with one lucky fan to walk away with a brand new car on the day.

The festival, which will begin with a golf tournament tomorrow at Borrowdale Brooke, will see some of the major corporates in the sector taking part, including celebrities and diplomats, among others.

In an interview with The Herald Arts, operations executive and events coordinator Lionel Gota said a series of events will start tomorrow as planned.

As part of the 12th anniversary celebrations, the stage has been set already for the big day on Saturday.

“So, on Thursday (tomorrow) we start off with a golf day and already we are very happy with the corporate response and everything is going according to plan,” said Gota.

“It is already fully subscribed. We want to paint the town purple and the main goal for this celebration is to unite artistes, fans and corporate, henceforth we have everything for everyone.”

Gota said on the line up of musicians to perform on Saturday there is Jah Prayzah, Enzo Ishall, Killer T, Nutty O, Takura and Feli Nandi, among others.

“Music always brings everything to completion, hence we celebrate with that in mind. The birthday celebrations will also have the Kidzenia show for children which will be their playing area.”

Gota said on Saturday morning, the big day they will start with the a show dubbed Fitness Circuit, whereby attendees are expected to join the fitness circuit which will be led by popular fitness trainer Zorro as he takes guests through Zumba activities.

“We also have a food and business market on the day which will see Shabaach Band, Prince Edward School Band and Nick Kuraz among others entertaining those at the market. It is a great opportunity for the networking and socialising.”

Gota said besides the fun-filled programme, they are not leaving the less privileged behind.

“For past months we have been receiving donations in the form of clothes and blankets among others.

“So, we have what we call “Share the warmth”. We strongly believe that we are blessed to be blessed by others.

“We will be handing over the collected goods and items to the following organisation, Flower of Hope Children’s Home, Shanduko Yeupenyu Child Care, Rose of Sharon, Kukosha, Pink and Purple Foundation, Thembiso Children’s Home, Hope of Saints Charity organisation and Mucheke Old People’s home among others.

“This initiative is the reason why we have decided to have a celebration of this magnitude.”
