Blackshark Protection Services this year celebrates their fifth year of business, emboldened with the vision of improving the communities in which they operate.

In the spirit of celebrating their wood anniversary, Blackshark has entered this year with the intention of giving back to the community.

“We believe Blackshark started in the community and that is where we want to continue to grow from,” said Tendai Pawadyira, Blackshark Marketing and Sales Manager, in an interview with the Herald.

Blackshark, whose head offices can be found in Workington, Harare, have expanded their business, occupying five regional offices in their five years of operation, namely in Bulawayo, Gweru, Mutare, Masvingo and Beitbridge.  From their head and regional offices, the company has been focused on Corporate Social Responsibility projects with the ultimate goal of community empowerment.

Among others, their outreach programmes include operations like: Bumhudzo Old People’s home, this project being conducted alongside Vivat Health Solutions; a luncheon with Jairos Jiri Children’s Home sponsored by Nandos; a luncheon with Chichester Convent; and education on sustainable feminine products with women in Zimbabwe’s prisons.

Another means of outreach that Blackshark has employed is its “Spot a Blackshark Promotion” that has been ongoing since June and will run until the very end of the year.

The promotion calls for any person to simply take a picture of a Blackshark security officer at work, putting that person in the running to win one of many grocery and food vouchers that the company is offering with winners continuously emerging, grateful to the company for this easy and conscientious approach.

Amidst revels, the company continues its business operations, employing north of 2400 people all over the country of Zimbabwe.

The security firm offers three principle services: manned guarding services for homes, businesses, communities and events; integrated electronic solutions like CCTV, alarm systems and Access Control Systems; and specialised protection services which include but are not limited to private investigations, personal bodyguards and undercover services.

Blackshark, standing upon its three most important principles: safety and healthy, a conscientized approach to the environment, and quality, support their employees as their most valuable asset, especially throughout the COVID-19 epidemic, having not lost a single employee to the virus even in such an interactive industry according to General Manager Moses Chibhamu.

The security firm’s guarantee of a quality service has seen them on the receiving end of many awards in their past five years of business.“

Service delivery is the key differentiating factor in security, we go all out to ensure ours is excellent,” said Pawadyira when speaking on the topic.

Blackshark keeps their employees active and involved through wellness activities in their down time, such as corporate sports leagues for netball and football, for which they won a shield for discipline in their first season, and also promotes fairness and equity for their employees, allowing unions like the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU).

Going into the future, the company’s outlook is hopeful and appreciative.

Pawadyira said, “We are looking into developing new products and embarking on new ventures in new markets.”
