Musician Peace “BaShupi” Ndlovu on Saturday paid lobola to his long time girlfriend Wadzanai Gumbo in Gweru.
When The Herald Entertainment phoned the musician yesterday, his mobile phone was answered by Wadzanai who was on cloud nine over the development.
“We are trying to keep it secret. How did you guys get the news? Anyway he came on Saturday and paid lobola,” she said.
Wadzanai could not give the actual figure that BaShupi paid at the marriage ceremony, saying it was private and confidential.

“He paid more than US$5 000 but I cannot give you the actual figure because it is private and confidential,” she said.
However, a source close to the development said BaShupi paid slightly more than US$ 4000 adding both families were very happy during the event.
Wadzanai was the musician’s personal assistant before the two fell in love.

“We have come a long way together and I am happy that we are finally married,” she said.
The musician seems to be riding on a wave of glory after his recent appointment as ambassador of Zvandiri National Advocacy Team.

The Zvandiri National Advocacy Team is a team of HIV positive adolescents who want to raise awareness amongst their peers of HIV services available for them in Zimbabwe.

However, this should have come as a relief following the musician’s bad day in office two weekends ago when he was almost chased off the stage by fans that did not like his performance at OK Grand Challenge draw at Borrowdale Race Course.

BaShupi was born on June 8, 1979. At the age of 13, he joined Amakhosi Theatre Production in Bulawayo to study drama, music and dance.
After gaining experience in arts, BaShupi toured Sweden, Russia, Netherlands, Germany and Uruguay among other countries.

At the age of 18 BaShupi formed a theatre company in Masvingo and named it Karanga Arts Promotions. He also worked with Masvingo Drama Circle for more than nine years and won several awards with the outfit.

In 2008 BaShupi relocated to Malawi where he worked as an accounting clerk. He returned to Zimbabwe in 2011 and continued his journey in the arts. He released his debut album titled “Twunonaka” that same year and came up with his second project titled “Zvinonaka” in 2012.

His breakthrough came when he worked with Stunner on the song “Godo” that was a hit.
Since then, BaShupi has done many projects with fellow musicians and is one of consistent performers at various platforms.
