LONDON. — Arsenal are closing in on Borussia Dortmund ace Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

That is despite growing uncertainty over landing Leicester striker Jamie Vardy.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is looking to wrap up a quick deal for Borussia Dortmund’s £25million-rated Armenia midfielder.

Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham are also keen on Mkhitaryan (27).

The German side are ready to sell the player, who only has one year left on his current contract.

And it’s said the that the Bundesliga giants are ready to offload their coveted star.

Mkhitaryan only has one year left on his current deal, meaning he could leave for nothing next summer.

The Gunners kicked of their spending early this year.

Wenger swooped for Swiss midfield enforcer Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach.

The experienced boss has also made a move for Leicester sensation Jamie Vardy.

But the England ace has decided not to make a decision on his future until after Euro 2016.

And the club are set to announce the capture of Nigerian midfield ace Kelechi Nwakali this week on a five-year deal.

Nwakali, who turned 18 on Sunday, joined from the country’s Diamond Football Academy for a fee in the region of £3m.

Vardy is poised to reject a £20m move to Arsenal.

The England and Leicester striker has spent the last 72 hours agonising over joining Arsene Wenger’s men.

But it is understood Vardy is expected to turn down a switch to the Emirates in favour of signing a new deal with the Foxes instead.

The news will be a hammer blow to the Gunners, who activated the release clause in his contract last week.

Wenger was prepared to hand Vardy a four-year-deal deal worth around £120 000-a-week.

But he held last-gasp talks with the Foxes before heading to France to prepare for Euro 2016, when club bosses made it clear how desperate they were for him to stay.

Three Lions boss Roy Hodgson has ordered Vardy to forget about the Gunners and focus on preparing for Saturday’s opening Group B showdown with Russia in Marseille.

But Vardy spoke with Hodgson on Tuesday at the team hotel in Chantilly and assured him he is concentrating on the job in hand.

It emerged on Tuesday night that the Gunners were content to wait until after the tournament to resume negotiations with Vardy and let him make a decision. — The Sun.
