Anti-sanctions resolutions

The Herbert Chitepo School of Ideology yesterday held the Second Edition of the Anti-Sanctions Indaba in Harare, Zimbabwe under the theme “Zimbabwe a Friend to All and an Enemy to None”.   

In attendance ZANU PF Secretary for External Affairs, Ambassador Simbarashe Mumbengegwi, Principal Chitepo School of Ideology Cde Munyaradzi Machacha and the National Political Commissar Cde Mike Bimha and a host of distinguished academics made the following resolutions: 

1. Commend the Government of Zimbabwe for the engagement and re-engagement policy which has given issue to the 25 October Anti-Sanctions Solidarity Day;

2. Thank the AU, SADC and the rest of the progressive nations for their support in the fight against sanctions and confirming their illegality.

3. To appeal for the continued support of Zimbabwe by the AU and the SADC in calling for the West to remove the sanctions on Zimbabwe;

4. Extend profound appreciation to the overwhelming solidarities from African and global Heads of State at the United Nations General Assembly; 

5. Appreciate the Report of the Special UN Rapporteur on the Negative Impact of Unilateral Coercive Measures on the Enjoyment of Human Rights, (Elena Douhan);

6. To lobby for more policy research in unpacking the gross effects of the illegal sanctions to the general livelihood of the Zimbabwean populace; 

7. Make it a matter of legislative command that government programs are broadcasted for free in both public and private broadcasting facilities with a view to demonstrate government’s anti-sanctions resistance.

8. To encourage government to heighten its media conscientisation on the how sanctions continue to paralyse the strategic sectors of our economy and social service institutions like banks, public health, education, welfare and social amnesties facilities;  

9. To engage the government in documenting the financial losses that the Zimbabwean economy has suffered under the colonial sanctions regime;

10. To advocate for a policy position of restitution for the multi-sectoral damage inflicted on Zimbabwe before and after the imposition of the illegal sanctions.

11. To mobilise support for the anti-sanctions campaign to be escalated to the International Court of Justice considering the magnitude of the illegality of the colonial sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe.
