Annual inflation rate sheds 0,34 points

The annual rate of inflation shed 0,34 percentage points on the August rate of -2,77 percent to -3,11 percent, as the prevailing tight liquidity and low disposable incomes maintained firm grip on weak demand.

“This means that prices, as measured by the all items consumer index decreased by an average of minus 3,11 percentage points between September 2014 and September 2015,” Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency reported.

The year on year food and non-alcoholic beverages inflation, prone to transitory shocks stood at minus 3,72 percent while the non-food inflation rate was minus 2,83 percent, figures from the statistical agency show.

Monthly rate of inflation for the month of September was minus 0,36 percent, shedding 0,05 percentage points on the august rate of minus 0,31 percent.

“This means that prices, as measured by the all items CPI decreased at an average rate of 0,36 percentage points from August 2015 to September 2015.”

The month on month food and non alcoholic beverages rate of inflation stood at minus 0,47 percent in September 2015, gaining 0,28 percentage points on the August rate of inflation, which stood at minus 0,75 percent.
