ALL is set for the Zanu PF 19th National Annual People’s Conference in Bindura, a unique conference that will be held in a hybrid fashion as the revolutionary party leaves nothing to chance against Covid-19, which has brought a new normal.

Last year, due to Covid-19, the ruling party postponed the National Annual People’s Conference but this year the event will proceed albeit with provinces congregating at 10 different venues in their regions while the party’s Politburo will be at the main venue in Bindura, with everyone following proceedings virtually.

Presently, the accreditation of delegates for the 19th National Annual People’s Conference is ongoing at the revolutionary party’s headquarters in Harare, while central committee members are being accredited in their provinces.

The Conference will be held from 25 to 31 October 2021, with all delegates expected to produce their valid Covid-19 vaccination certificates before accreditation. Service providers and other stakeholders will also be accredited at provincial centres.

Zanu PF Secretary for Finance and Economic Development who is also the acting national political commissar Cde Patrick Chinamasa said preparations for the holding of the conference are on course.

Last week, Cde Chinamasa held a meeting with provincial chairpersons and provincial secretaries for finance to assess progress made so far.

“I called a meeting of provincial chairpersons as Secretary for Finance and Economic Development to talk about resource mobilisation. Present at the meeting were the national resource mobilisation committees, provincial chairpersons and provincial secretaries for finance,” he said.

The mobilisation committees were directed to raise US$140 million to finance the party activities including the 2023 harmonised elections.

“The committee, which is chaired by Cde Phillip Chiyangwa, gave each province a target of US$14 million and we have since advised that we expect that each province should annually raise US$5 million”.

Cde Chinamasa said each province is expected to meet the costs of running the conference.

Zanu PF Department of Finance and Economic Development will lay out the procedures that might be followed in terms of banking and receipting contributions for accountability purposes.

“We are going to prepare a document which everyone must follow. The contributions will be in cash or kind. So far, we are very pleased with the efforts made by the fundraising team.”
