MINISTER of State for Mashonaland Central Provincial Affairs Monica Mavhunga last week visited cholera patients at Mt Darwin Hospital and Manhondo (Mukaradzi) Centre and promised to mobilise 3 000 litres of diesel and 1 000 litres of petrol to contain the outbreak.

She was accompanied by Rushinga and Mt Darwin South legislators Cdes Tendai Nyabani and Stephen Kabozo respectively.

“Although the provincial and district Civil Protection Unit are already on the ground to contain the outbreak, my office will assist in mobilising more resources. So far 92 cases have been confirmed, while three people died contrary to reports that four people have died so far. We have suspended all mining activities in the area until the outbreak has been contained,” she said.

Minister Mavhunga also said she would liaise with the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company’s (ZETDC) to assist in providing electricity to pump water to Mt Darwin Hospital.

Cde Nyabani donated groceries and detergents to the patients.
