People in Hwedza have hailed Zanu-PF secretary for youth in the district and businessman Cde Tino Machakaire for his work in assisting youths and the elderly in the area.

Cde Machakaire recently donated shoes to vulnerable children, maize seed to the elderly, revamped road networks in Hwedza, as well as work with the community in Goneso to revive Mukamba Clinic that was closed a few years ago. Various people who spoke to The Herald said Cde Machakaire was one of the individuals embracing President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s vision. Chief Ruzani said the youthful leader was taking care of the elderly, as well as spear heading projects that benefited the community.

“Machakaire has done a lot for both Hwedza North and Hwedza South constituencies and that is what we want in line with President Mnangagwa’s vision,” he said.

“What I have realised is that he has done this for the community, not that he is vying for any political position.” Others said Cde Machakaire, who is also into transport, did a lot to improve road networks in Hwedza. Simbarashe Saunyama, a villager in Hwedza, said he was happy with the way Cde Machakaire was assisting the needy in the community.

“This is one of the issues we have been crying for as people of Hwedza to have good transport network, among other things,” he said. Last year on Christmas Day, Cde Machakaire donated maize seed and shoes to over 500 disadvantaged families in Goneso Village, Hwedza. Cde Machakaire handed over the donations at a colourful event that saw performances by several musicians at his homestead in Hwedza. Cde Machakaire said he was simply delivering what he was tasked to do by the party.

“We are from this community and it is important to give back to such. I have been working tirelessly to make sure we have a better community,” he said. Cde Machakaire said they were working to revive schools and clinics that were closed in Hwedza.

“We have a lot of cases where people lose lives because of long distance travels as well as children travelling long distances because some clinics and schools are shut down,” he said.

“We have already bought building material for Mukamba Clinic that was closed some years back. We are sourcing from organisations to have such things done and we are happy that they are assisting us in making sure we have a better society.”
