“I have been writing films but this one to me is a bigger project because I was used to shoot movies in SA and I am happy because I am playing this match in my country” Light Image production owned by filmmaker Melgin Tafirenyika has struck a deal with UK-based company Star Galaxy Media Production for marketing of their coming movie titled “My First Boyfriend”.The deal will see the Zimbabwean movie premièring in England as well as several other festivals in many Western countries.

Tafirenyika said the deal was useful not only to then but to Zimbabwean film industry at large.

“This is a milestone not only for me as the writer of the film but the industry as a whole because it will put us on the lime light,” he said.

The filmmaker, who has been involved in several movies, said it was a challenge for film producers to have quality standards that matches the international community.

“This alone it tells us that as Zimbabwean filmmakers we need to up our game to make a movie with high quality standards that will compete against the international market.

“By producing quality movies we then have chances of making it big on the international scene,” he said.

Daniel Robson the owner of Star Galaxy Media production is delighted to be partnering the local film company.

The cast has Jefferson Muserera, Igi Matope, Vimbisai Maruta, Garikai Ndanga and Mary Mpande.

Tafirenyika who has been shooting movies across Limpopo River said he was happy that the deal came on his first big project in Zimbabwe.

“I have been writing films but this one to me is a bigger project because I was used to shoot movies in SA and I am happy because I am playing this match in my country,” he said.

His wish is to have several films that promote tourism.

“This is now my sixth year in the film industry and we still hope to go strong. This partnership will work for us,” he said.
