Gospel musician Tyrah Chikocho believes her new album “Sunungura Mweya” will take her to another level in the music industry. Chikocho, who last released an album some years back, said she had taken a break after getting married to tackle her new role as a wife and mother. “After my wedding I had a baby that I had to first take care of before getting back to the studio,” she said.Songs on the album are “Sunungura Mweya”, “Aripano”, “Mambowedu”, “Nomufaro”,”Anerudo” and “Shamwari”.

Chikocho urged female gospel musicians to be courageous.

“I did not lose hope after marriage, which should be a lesson to most female gospel musicians in the country that quit or slow down on music because of marriage,” she said.

She is optimistic that the new album will make waves as it has songs that inspire people to love the word of God.

“If you listen to the album you will realise that most of the songs are inspirational and they encourage people to love God. It is my wish as a musician to see my music inspiring people.”

She is hoping to start live performances soon.

“If a person releases a new album, the next target becomes live shows. We will soon have live performances and we are currently preparing for our first show that will come soon,” she said.

For her gospel music in Zimbabwe is on the rise as the musicians are working hard to improve.

“There are a lot of albums that are coming and I think gospel music in Zimbabwe is growing,” she said.

Chikocho has videos that are fast gaining ground and being played at ZTV and Christ TV. She is happy about the development saying it encourages her to keep working hard.

“The response is overwhelming and that makes me work extra hard,” she added.
