There were fireworks at the Jamaican dancehall star Busy Signal’s show that was held at the Glamis Stadium on Saturday. Fans had a treat of their life as the dancehall icon proved beyond reasonable doubt that he is one of the best in the reggae music circles. His coming to stage was met by a loud cheers and whistles from the packed ground full of dancehall lovers who could not wait to sample songs live from the man himself.

Clad in a blue suit, the dancehall star proved that he is not only loved in Jamaica but also here in Zimbabwe. He sang songs from his past and new albums and fans could be heard singing along showing that they really know and love his music. Songs like “Reggae Music Again”, “Sweet Love”, “Dreams of Brighter Days”, “Gambler”, “Come Over” and “Sweet Love” left fans in ecstasy especially who had their loved ones with them could be heard singing along while enjoying the marvellous tunes.

The man could not also hide the feeling that he was also enjoying the presence of his fans who had travelled long distances to witness him performing live on the stage. “I have travelled around the world and met many different fans but Zimbabweans you are the best, you know music unite people and makes the world go round,” said Busy Signal while on stage.

Apart from the dancehall star the day was made brighter by the performance of local dancehall artists like Seh Calaz, Winky D, Dadza D, Bounty Lisa, Soul Jah Love and Jah Prayzah who managed to still the show with their outstanding performances.

Of interest was the introduction of an 11 year old upcoming dancehall artist identified as Genius who came on stage when Dadza D was performing made the crowd go into frenzy with his antics, the young kid has a promising future, and if groomed enough will reach greater heights.

Killer T proved that his bag is still loved by a lot of fans as he was called back on stage when he performed most of his songs from the Ngoma ndaimba album with fans being left in a state of Frenzy with his performances.

The young lad sang some of the past tunes like Bicycle which left fans in awe due to the outstanding performance. Fans could be heard in the ground expressing their satisfaction from the spectacular performance from Busy Signal which lasted for almost two hours.

“Busy Signal is a star man, comparing him with the past foreign artists who visited Zimbabwe, he managed to still the show. It was one hell of show and the crowd here can testify, fans had a wonderful night and I can’t complain,” said one fan identified as Sean

“I travelled all the way from Gweru for this show and it was worth it, I can’t complain and I can safely say that my money did not go for nothing. The man is good and has proved that he knows what he does best,” said Simbarashe. The night was however, a haven of different activities and it seems that it has become a norm for the youth to be involved in some violent activities as some youth could be seen exchanging blows.

With the fans that had come from different places from around the country to enjoy the show parking space was hectic, fans were forced to park along Samora Machel as well as in Belvedere as the one inside the gates could not accommodate the cars that were there.

Unlike the previous performances from other dancehall artists who visited Zimbabwe Busy Signal has managed to swipe away the notion that the foreign artists flop whenever they come here to perform.
