Zim face Bangladesh in warm-up game

ZIMBABWE begin their tour of Bangladesh with a preparatory three day warm-up game against Bangladesh Cricket Board XI at Fatullah this morning ahead of their three Tests and five One Day Internationals. Zimbabwe have named three uncapped players in their travelling party in the — Brian Chari, Herbert Chikomba and spinner Wellington Masakadza but only Chari and Masakadza are being given a go in this warm up match which will start at 5.30am Zimbabwean time.
Having last played against West Indies early last year, the experienced Craig Ervine makes a welcome return to the team.

But it is the youthful pair trio of Chari, Chikomba and Masakadza who impressed Mangongo and the coach believes they should be given their chance to represent their nation.
Tinashe Panyangara has also been drafted back in the team after being overlooked in the later stages of the ODI triangular because of a disciplinary issue.

However, reports from Bangladesh indicate that Anamul Haque and Nasi Hossain will be unavailable for the first Test against Zimbabwe, after they were both picked in a BCB XI side that will take part in the Acharya Memorial Trophy in Kolkata from October 25 to celebrate 150 years of the Eden Gardens.

According to cricinfo.com, both players were part of Bangladesh’s Test squad last month against West Indies but will not be able to play in the opening Test.
Bangladesh will also be without the services of Elias Sunny, who too was selected in the BCB XI squad that will take on teams from Mumbai, Bangalore and the hosts Kolkata.

Anamul has been made captain of the team, with Naeem Islam appointed his deputy. The make-up of the BCB XI squad means that the rest of the players will be kept in consideration for the first Test which also begins on October 25, at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
