to Colonels.
They were promoted in terms of section 15 (1) b of the Defence Act (Chapter 11:02) with effect from March 11 2011. The promoted senior officers are Colonels Overson Mugwisi, Godfrey Mutetse, Stanford Chigumira, Coleen Mangena, Robert Muhambi, Amon Mhlanga, Gift Murahwa, Bingudzai Gonga, Stanley Mdambo, Maxen Dube, Sydney Singizi and Johns Mhlanga.
Chief of Staff Administration and Quartermaster Staff in the Zimbabwe National Army, Major General Trust Mugoba, conferred the newly promoted officers with their ranks at Army Headquarters yesterday. He reminded them that their duty was to defend Zimbabwe and protect it from any form of attack as enshrined in their commissioning scrolls signed by the President.
“Your duty is to defend the values of the country and protect the nation from any form of attack as written in your commissioning scrolls signed by the President.”
They were told that their promotion had given them the opportunity to rise through the ranks where there was stiff competition.
Maj Gen Mugoba reminded them that they were now going to face a lot of challenges and responsibilities than they had been facing.
“It is said, the higher you go the cooler it becomes . . . so you are now subject to face more responsibilities than what you have been dealing with,” Maj Gen Mugoba said.
They were again urged to contribute to the strategic military planning of the force.
“You are now eligible to contribute to the strategic military planning of ZNA and as such, you are expected to make your contributions,” he said.
Several senior army officers attended the event.
