Members of the Zimbabwe National Army should strive to properly manage and preserve the military engineering hardware as it is expensive to acquire and maintain, a senior army official has said. Speaking at the graduation ceremony of 103 graduands of Combat Engineer Class III Course at Pomona Barracks yesterday, Colonel Chisichenyu Singizi said engineering equipment should be treasured and handled properly.

“I would not have done justice to the system if I do not reiterate that engineering equipment is among the most expensive equipment in the ZNA,” he said.

“Handle the equipment with the care it deserves and you will have done a great service to the Engineers Corps and ZNA as a whole.”

Col Singizi commended the graduands for their dedication during the course.

“I am aware that your course faced a number of challenges, some of which were beyond the capabilities of this school but through your resilience, we are witnessing this graduation today,” said Col Singizi.

“Through dedication, loyalty and hard work the school continues to train to meet the ZNA training flow chart and I must commend you for that.” He urged the graduands to remain disciplined when they return back to their units.

The course covered among other issues, demolition and mine warfare.
