Munyaradzi Doma in Zvishavane
Zvishavane Town Council has started refurbishing recreational facilities and constructing new ones, with the town’s swimming pool and children’s playground being top priorities.

The municipality is funding the projects from its revenue collections and Private Public Partnerships. The projects are expected to cost $20 000 for the swimming pool and $5 000 for the children’s playground, while the financing of new projects is being worked out. Town secretary Mr Tinoda Mukutu said the swimming pool was supposed to be commissioned last year, but was delayed due to unexpected hiccups.

“The rehabilitation of the swimming pool is almost complete because much of what needs to be done has been done. It’s a very big swimming pool — a state-of-the-art facility — so we engaged a partner for the project and we are happy to say it’s almost complete,” he said. Mr Mukutu said council was also looking at establishing more children’s playgrounds with specific emphasis on football.

“We have some playgrounds in Mandava, but we want to establish more, especially soccer grounds. We will, however, establish fields for other sporting disciplines so that we have as many recreational facilities as possible,” he said.
