The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA), in partnership with Wild Africa, will on Thursday convene a tourism and conservation round table meeting in Harare to address problems affecting the sector.
The meeting will bring together various stakeholders.

Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Barbra Rwodzi spoke about the significance of the event.

“We are bringing together a team of experts to dissect the challenges affecting the tourism sector, identify areas for improvement, and celebrate our successes,” she said.

“Our goal is to foster a sustainable and resilient tourism industry that benefits both our economy and the environment.”

Wild Africa coordinator Guy Jennings said the platform will allow experts to share their experiences.

“By fostering collaboration, we can address the pressing issues constraining the sector, like poaching, habitat loss, and human-wildlife conflict,” said Jennings.

Discussions will focus on the balance between economic growth and environmental conservation, as well as strategies for more community involvement in wildlife conservation.

They will also review existing policies and look at possible new regulations, and the building of partnerships for long-term success.
