A 28-year old Zimbabwe Dancehall artiste Kennedy Zimuto is expected to launch his two single tracks this month to coincide with his birthday.

The songs, “Ityai Mwari” and “Chimhandara”, will be streamed live on his online platforms on 19 September to enable fans to enjoy from the comfort of their homes.

Zimuto, known in the musical circles as Kenso or Mukoma Salvation, stepped into music industry since 2015 and recorded various songs like “Mwana Uripi” and “Matambudziko”, which became popular at various youth gatherings before the advent of Covid-19.

In an interview, Zimuto said he wanted to surprise his fans with the new single tracks which he believed would receive overwhelming support.

“I have arranged this launch of my single tracks to coincide with my birthday which will be on 19 September.

“This will be a treat for my fans since they haven’t been expecting such a release, while at the same time celebrating my birthday.

“These two singles are coming at a time when most of the fans have been waiting for long for my new album after a long break owing to the ravaging and devastating effects of Covid-19.

‘‘I really believe that these tracks are going to get an overwhelming response as they are going to answer all the questions of my fans.”

Zimuto gave a brief explanation of the two songs, adding that there was also a bonus track called “Anti-Drug” which reprimands youths from taking dangerous drugs.

“The song ‘Ityai Mwari’ encourages people to respect God and to love him with all their hearts as he is the creator of everything,” he said.

“People are now involved in various illicit deals to get rich, not knowing that God is the dispenser of everything.

“I decided to fuse gospel with dancehall since the vice is affecting most of the youth who happen to be my fans.

“The second one is called ‘Chimhandara’, which is a tribute to someone who finally gets married after a struggle. He is now appreciating his cohabitation with his beautiful spouse and has since overcome all the challenges that came during their relationship.

“Another bonus track discourages youths from taking dangerous drugs which are a health hazard.”

Zimuto, who is based in Dzivarasekwa where most of his fans reside, said he was motivated by his brothers who used to listen to reggae music, and he motivated himself until he succeeded.

Zimuto said the launch will be live streamed on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, as well as under the account name Kenso Wabata Penso1.
