ZIMBABWE will seek to promote trade, investment and the country’s tourism sector during its participation at the Osaka 2025 Expo to be held in Japan, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Permanent Secretary, Mr Nick Mangwana, has said.
Expo 2025 is an upcoming World Expo organised and sanctioned by the Bureau International des Expositions and it will take place for six months starting from April 13 through to October 13 next year.
The Expo expects 28,2 million visitors, with business visitors expected to make up around 40 percent mainly from Asia, Europe, and the Americas, while the remaining 60 percent will be potential tourists.
Zimbabwe will exhibit under the theme, “Beyond Limits” and its pavilion will embrace diversity, innovation, and resilience, with the main thrust being how the country is surmounting various impediments through the employment of innovations.
The pavilion’s theme aligns with the Second Republic’s mantras and philosophies such as “Nyika inovakwa, Igonamatirwa neVene Vayo”, “A Friend to All, An Enemy to None”, “Zimbabwe is Open for Business”, “Leaving No One and No Place Behind”, “Reform and Opening Up’’, “Brick by Brick, Stone upon Stone”, “Engagement and Re-Engagement”, “Innovation, Modernisation and Industrialisation”.
“At the Osaka 2025 Expo, Zimbabwe aims to promote investments, trade and increased tourist influx into the country,” said Mr Mangwana at a meeting with media houses in Harare yesterday.
The Commissioner General of the Zimbabwe Pavilion, Mr Allan Majuru, who is also ZimTrade chief executive officer, said they were rolling out provincial engagement programmes and these would ensure the true Zimbabwean story is showcased at the Expo.
“These perspectives provide authentic insight into what Zimbabwe has to offer, allowing the pavilion to represent the nation more holistically.
“Each province possesses unique resources and attractions, from natural landmarks and tourism hotspots to agricultural and mining potential.
“Identifying these regional assets will help the secretariat to shape a pavilion experience that appeals to a broad spectrum of international interests, enhancing Zimbabwe’s appeal as a destination for tourism, trade, and investment,” he said in the October Expo 2025 Osaka Newsletter.
The Japan Embassy Charge d’Affaires, Mr Hiroyuki Kumagai, last Friday said Zimbabwe’s participation would certainly further its relations with Japan.
He said the Expo was also an opportunity for Zimbabwe to showcase its innovations.
“This event presents a unique opportunity for nations around the globe to share their innovations, experiences and visions for a sustainable and inclusive future. “We believe that this Expo will not only foster co-operation and dialogue, but also inspire people to think creatively about the challenge that the world faces today,” Mr Kumagai said.
Zimbabwe aims to cater to all visitor types with a showcase that is both informative and engaging.
