Local guitarist and gospel music singer, Timothy Phillip, has collaborated with South Africa’s gospel artiste Wandile Nkosi-Moloi on a song titled “Munesu”, aimed at giving hope in the face of Covid-19.

Phillip said the song, that was produced by Wayne Malomo, was inspired by how God was preserving people in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said the collaboration taught him some lessons in his musical career.

“This collaboration has made me realise that God can bless any individual by linking him or her with a person for a blessing,” said Phillip.

“Wandile is a highly esteemed personality that I thought I couldn’t get to reach out to, let alone talk about coming up with a collaboration.

“Little did I know that she is a very down to earth person, considering how she has been on big platforms in the music circles. I saw her one time on One Gospel channel on DStv sharing the stage with Zaza from South Africa.

“I owe her a lot. I appreciate God for her life and I thank her so much for accepting my offer of joining Zimbabwe and South Africa in a song of hope.”

The song is about the wonders being done by God, his love and how he has impacted humankind in these trying times of Covid-19.

“The pandemic affected us globally, but God has been faithful to preserve us from the ‘noise some pestilence’ and still he is going to continue showing himself strongly in our lives,” said Phillip.

“Getting to where we are now, I knew it all along that had it not been for the Lord who is always there with us, the enemy would have swallowed us. So, the song says: ‘Ndaizviziva kuti Munesu/Ngazile ukuthi Unathi’.”

Wandile said she was happy to work with Phillip on the song about giving hope to the world and thanking God for his trustworthiness.

“Working with Timothy has been nothing but a breath of fresh air as he is highly gifted, anointed, articulate and deeply committed to the things of God,” she said.

“I instantly connected to the message of the song Munesu upon receiving it and it was easy to add my part as this was exactly what God has been communicating to me in my own personal life, that through it all, He will be with me.”

Phillip, a renowned guitarist in the gospel music circles, is a recorded gospel artiste with a 10-track album and a couple of singles under his belt..

Wandile has won a number of accolades in South Africa, including the SABC Crown Gospel Award 2012 for Best Gospel Jazz Album and the 2014 Young Achiever of the Year at the Imbokodo Community Awards that took place in Tsakane.

In 2016, she was nominated for Best Gospel Collaboration for the Ingoma Gospel Music Awards and in 2013/2014 she was nominated for Africa Gospel Awards for African Gospel Jazz Album which is held in London.
