ZIMBABWE international forward Khama Billiat appears to have turned very spiritual as uncertainty over his future continues to stalk him, with his contract with South African football powerhouse Mamelodi Sundowns set to end in four months’ time.

Billiat, who turns 28 on August 19 this year, has resisted overtures from the Pretoria giants to extend his contract at the club where he has turned himself into one of the stars and helped them win the CAF Champions League. Reports have indicated that the Zimbabwean star is wanted by Azerbaijani giants Qarabag, who usually feature in the UEFA Champions League, while other reports have suggested he could be on his way to French side Lyon.

Billiat recently dumped his agent and changed stables as he prepares for what is likely to be his last big deal in the game. Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has made it clear he would love to keep Billiat at the club, but the decision is out of his hands and rests with the diminutive forward.

Billiat, who has been accused by some of having a wayward lifestyle, has turned very spiritual and has been bombarding his social media platforms with some spiritual messages since the beginning of the year. He has also been portraying himself as a loving family man, with a picture of him and his daughter usually accompanying the social media updates.

He has been quoting scriptures from Romans to Peter, from John to Jeremiah and all the time ending his messages with the powerful phrase, “In God we trust”.

The phrase is also featured on every United States dollar note.

Then there was another post, “yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf – 1 Peter 4:16 KJV, #inGodwetrust#,’’ with the other post saying, “let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me – John 14:1 KJV #inGodwetrust#.’’

The other posts have read, “Call unto me and I will answer thee and will show thee great things and difficult, which thou knowest not – Jeremiah 33:3 ASV #inGodwetrust#; “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it, #inGodwetrust#.’’

He even thanks the Lord “for everything, better is little with the fear of the Lord than great treasure and trouble therewith,” while also thinking his father who ‘’gave me the biggest support I needed from day one #inGodwetrust#’.’

And a number of Qarabag fans have been thronging his social media platforms with calls for him to come to Azerbaijan and play for their beloved team.
