ZIMBABWE is among countries with the highest density of landmines in the world, statistics provided by an international organisation have shown.

The statistics were revealed by Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) recently during the handover of land the organisation demined along the Zimbabwe/Mozambique border.

At the height of the liberation struggle, the Rhodesian regime planted land mines throughout the northern and eastern border                     area in an attempt to stop freedom fighters from seeking training and supplies from Mozambique and Zambia.
