Zim 3 years ahead of HIV 2025 mid-term targets
Progressive policies being initiated by the Government in the fight against HIV have seen the country being three years ahead of 2025 mid term targets, the UN Aids executive director Ms Winni Byanyema said after paying a courtesy call to President Mnangagwa today.
Ms Byanyema, who thanked President Mnangagwa for hosting Icasa this year, said despite grappling illegal sanctions, Zimbabwe is the most successful country in the fight against HIV.
She also thanked him for his leadership and the policies that have made the HIV response in this country successful.
“Zimbabwe is one of the countries that are fastest moving to reduce new infections and deaths and will achieve the mid-term targets of 2025.
“Zimbabwe has achieved them three years ahead. It is one of the most successful countries in fighting AIDS and that’s because there is a leadership thats pushing for the right policies,” she said.
