Preparations for the forthcoming Zanu-PF 15th Annual National People’s Conference are at an advance stage as all logistics have been put in place. The zanu-PF Politburo recently set the tone for the conference, unanimously agreeing that the indaba would centre on improving people’s livelihoods as espoused in the economic blueprint, Zim-Asset. The conference is slated for Victoria Falls from December 7 to13.

In an interview yesterday, Zanu-PF secretary for Information and Publicity, Cde Simon Khaya Moyo, said the preparations were going smoothly, adding that the Politburo was happy with the developments. “Everything is on course and we are finalising the preparations as all the sub-committees are winding up their assignments,” he said.

The eight committees are; finance, documentation, organising, information, accreditation, transport and social welfare, health and entertainment. He said fundraising was going on well and a full report was to be compiled and released this week. Cde Khaya Moyo said the conference would be about the economy.

He said on the agenda would be the state of the party, the state of the economy and the Zim-Asset clusters. The economic blueprint would be the main centre of discussion and Finance and Economic Development Minister Patrick Chinamasa, will present a paper on the subject.

Cde Khaya Moyo said; “We shall also have on the agenda the liberation war heritage, sports, culture and religion. Women and Youth affairs will also be discussed. Only accredited delegates will be allowed to attend the conference.”

Provinces have come up with recommendations for the conference, chief among them being the endorsement of President Mugabe as the party’s candidate for the 2018 elections. Cde Khaya Moyo said a report from the national disciplinary committee decisions had been well received by the Politburo, with decisions being taken on cases that had been pending.
