“The co-ordination committee is meeting tomorrow (today in Harare) to look at how far preparations for our conference have gone so far. I will be chairing the meeting. We are going to look at a number of issues including looking back at the 13th conference in Gweru (in the Midlands province last year) and see what pitfalls we faced and find ways to address them,” he said.

The party will hold its 14th annual national people’s conference in Chinhoyi – Mashonaland West province  – and is in the process of mobilising money to build a massive US$10 million conference centre before December.

Cde Khaya Moyo said the party was also going to discuss a number of issues among them transport logistics, the venue and proposed dates for the conference.

“We also have to look at the number of delegates expected to attend the conference, the agenda for the conference and financing. There are some subcommittees that are also going to be put in place to look at accommodation as well as food for the delegates. Mashonaland West is going to brief us on latest on the venue after which, we will find time to visit the province,” he said.

Cde Khaya Moyo said he was going to report to the Politburo the resolutions of today’s meeting for it also give its input. “We want this conference to be successful, especially coming after our resounding victory against the opposition. We do not want to disappoint the people who voted us,” he said.

About 6000 people attended the Gweru conference, whose main resolution was to win the 2013 harmonised elections resoundingly.
