Zanu PF is confident that measures being implemented by Government to contain the spread of Covid-19 will be successful, the party’s Secretary for Finance and Economic Development Cde Patrick Chinamasa has said.

The ruling party is working with Government to mobilise resources required to fight the pandemic.

Zimbabwe has so far recorded nine cases, one of which resulted in death.

“The party has already requested Government to mobilise resources,” said Cde Chinamasa.

“Together with Government, we should be able to mobilise enough resources.”

Cde Chinamasa said in its efforts to conscientise the public on the global pandemic, the ruling party had engaged its provincial coordinating committees (PCCs) to raise awareness on Covid-19.

“As a party, we went out to meet the PCCs in our provinces to raise awareness,” said Cde Chinamasa.

“We then directed them to take it down to the party’s structures.”

Cde Chinamasa urged the nation to exercise caution in their conduct while reiterating that the lockdown was proving to be a success.

“The lockdown has been successful so far,” said Cde Chinamasa.

In its efforts to contain the disease, Government has established the Zimbabwe Covid-19 National Disaster Fund, which will see citizens and well-wishers alike being able to contribute towards containing the virus, while $600 million has since been set aside to cater for the subsistence of one million households, among other measures.

The Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF), State universities and local firms have also scaled up production of face masks, drugs and materials required to combat the spread of Covid-19.
