Villagers in Zaka District have paid a glowing tribute to First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa for her humility and generous work, especially for orphaned and vulnerable children.

This followed her recent visit to Bopoma Orphanage in Ndanga communal lands, Zaka, where she took the opportunity to donate foodstuffs, a television set and a decoder. She extended the same kind gesture to five other children’s homes in Masvingo Province.

Zaka North Ward 1 councillor Cde Lovemore Makuyana said the First Lady deserved applause because of the work she was doing to change lives of disadvantaged children.

“We are very happy that at last God has answered our prayers. We have been praying for a mother of the nation who has people at heart. What puzzles most of us is that she is not selective. What is more inspiring is that she does not consider one’s political affiliation in her engagements; she is just a mother for all Zimbabweans,” he said.

Zaka Central Member of Parliament Cde Paradzai Chakona described the First Lady as a humble woman of virtue, who always puts people first. Cde Chakona said the First Lady was a hard working woman, who was an example to other women in Zimbabwe.

“We have never had such a mother in the history of this country; a mother who has the people at heart. She can even attend your birthday party when invited. She is not a kind of a person who does not fear mixing with even ordinary people,” he said. Cde Chakona said Cde Mnangagwa was a hard worker focused on advancing the agenda of women empowerment so that they became self-reliant.

“We are lucky and blessed to have such a mother. To those who know her, the first lesson she gives is for people to love one another,” he said. Cde Mnangagwa is also a Member of Parliament for Chirumhanzu-Zibagwe constituency in the Midlands Province. She recently went on a nationwide tour where she visited children’s homes donating food hampers and other items to improve the living standards of disadvantaged children.

Besides donating a television set and decoder at Bopoma Orphanage in Zaka, Cde Mnangagwa donated a television set and decoder each for Leranzo Children’s Home in Mwenezi, Chingele, Chambuta, Chiredzi and Alpha Cottages.
