Government has urged youths to join community leaders and be part of the devolution process to ensure the success of development projects being implemented in their areas.

Addressing villagers in Zaka at a recent meeting, Deputy Minister of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation Cde Yeukai Simbanegavi said there were many programmes being offered by the Government, which seek to empower the youths, but most of them were not aware of them.

“President Mnangagwa’s Government has a lot of programmes which cater for the youths, but most of them do not participate in these programmes because they do not know much about them,” she said.

“I encourage all the youths to engage with their community leaders so that they get informed about such programmes.

“We have the Empower Bank, where the youths can apply for loans to start their own projects,” she said.

She said the Government is youth friendly and wants to nurture young people so that they can have a bright future.

“President Mnangagwa’s Government is calling on youths to come up with business ideas, and parastatals such as the Zimbabwe Youth Council and Youth Association will help them,” she said.

She said for the country to attain an upper-middle income status by the year 2030, youths should actively participate in economic development programmes like Command Agriculture.

“Government needs players to fill in the gaps so that we can achieve Vision 2030 together. We are calling our youths to venture into commercial farming through Government’s Command Agriculture initiative,” he said.

“To achieve this, our youths should shun drug abuse and stop being used                                             by opposition parties to demonstrate against the Government,” she said.

She advised youths to attain skills at Vocational Training Centres.

“If you are not academically talented, you can use Vocational Training Institutions to attain skills.

She said Government was going open more Vocational Training Centres in the district to help youths who are interested in attaining vocational life skills.
