Young crooner Peter Moyo gave a good account of himself when he played before a capacity crowd at Cameroon Square in Kadoma on Monday during a clean-up campaign organised by a local businessman Cossy Rules. Despite the scorching heat characterising the day, the Young Igwe thrilled the crowd with a performance that convinced many people that the 23-year-old has come of age since taking over his father’s Utakataka Express.

He kicked off the show with one of his father’s classical hits, “Muchina Muhombe”, which was warmly received by the swelling crowd. Backed by two energetic dancers, Peter went all systems out to keep the crowd on their feet.

Having warmed up both the audience and the stage, he played yet another crowd’s favourite “Kapuka Kanonzi Rudo”. By the time he got to hits from his debut album “Mushonga Mukuru”, it was already clear that the young crooner has upped his performance since taking over the band two years ago.

“I am playing for a worthy cause, in a new environment and a clean one for that matter,” he shouted to a thunderous applause from residents.

The clean-up campaign, held annually, is aimed at retaining its lustre that was for long associated with Kadoma.
Oganised by Cosmas Daka, a local businessman known as Cossy Rules, the clean- up campaign, brought together stakeholders from different organisations that included the local business community, politicians and musicians, among them First Farai and Allan Chimbetu.
